One way to keep your wedding costs down, is to organise a backyard wedding. Of course, not all of us have a garden big enough for a massive marquee, but Glen and Teri got lucky, and borrowed a friend's farm! They then hired a fabulous tipi for their reception, and booked nearby Ratsbury Barn in Kent for their wedding ceremony. I love their rustic wedding theme - Glen and Teri both love the outdoors, so they chose natural decor details of burlap and wood. Other stealworthy ideas include Teri's strapless Enzoani gown and the outfits she chose for her flower-girls and pageboys. The overall effect is effortless and boho-chic, and perfectly pictured by James Grist Photography. More shots from their incredible reception, coming later today!
Our special day was Saturday 3rd August. We hosted our ceremony at Ratsbury Barn in Tenterden, Kent, and our reception was held in tipis on a friend's farm.
Our love of the outdoors was the theme for our wedding and so we chose to have very rustic, natural decor.
My wedding dress was a 'Fatima' gown made by Enzoani. I bought it from Haley Elizabeth Bridal Boutique in Farnborough, Kent.
I spent quite a while choosing my wedding dress, as at first, I didn't have a clue what I wanted. Having three sisters helped considerably, and eventually I came to a final decision on the dress, although I chose not to wear the sparkly belt that came with it.
My wedding shoes were from Rainbow Club and I managed to get them at a very reasonable price online because the style was discontinued. My hair accessory was made by one of my sisters.
My hair accessory was made by one of my sisters. Much to my mum's horror, I decided not to wear a veil, as the dress had larger skirts than I planned, and it felt a little too much with a veil as well.
We decided not to have adult bridesmaids as there were just too many potential candidates! Instead, we just had our three nieces and two nephews, as flower girls and pageboys.

The girls' outfits came from Monsoon and the boys' cute shirts with braces and grey trousers were from Next. We wanted something simple for the children to wear and they all looked adorable on the day, well they did before they started tucking into the cake!
Our florist, Lucy, was amazing. She came over to discuss our ideas, and immediately got our rustic theme and the look we wanted. I absolutely loved my bouquet, and the smaller versions that Lucy made for the flower girls.
Glen's outfit was a simple three-piece grey suit made by Anthony Sinclair. He had a rose buttonhole to match my bouquet.
We always knew we wanted our wedding reception to be held on our friend's farm and the tipis fitted perfectly with the setting - we absolutely loved them. The difficulty we then faced, was finding a ceremony venue for our wedding, that was close to the farm, and would fit our rustic theme.
When we first came across Ratsbury Barn, we both fell in love with it. The beautiful wooden doors and the huge oak tree in the centre of the courtyard, make the barn the perfect location.
Our wedding photographer was James Grist. He was an easy decision, as he'd photographed my sister's wedding two years ago and we were hugely impressed.
We wanted our photographs to be natural, capturing everyone in their normal light, and James was so professional and attentive to our requests. On our day, he made everyone feel so relaxed and at ease that we often forgot we were being photographed, and thought of him as one of our guests. He even drove my nan and sister to the ceremony!
James managed to capture the whole day perfectly and we are really pleased with our wedding pictures.
